GROWING SCULPTURE
I started growing sculptural works at an allotment in Nottingham in 1985 as part of my MA studies. I continued when a garden was established a year after I moved with my wife, Pauline Burbidge, to the Scottish Borders in 1993. ‘Growing Sculpture’ was a phrase I established to reflect the nature of the work.
It has been developing ever since, particularly after I met Hugo Burge, director of Marchmont House, whose ambition for Marchmont has matched my fantasies in growing sculpture. All projects below, develop and change over many years.
